Rotorua Zen Group
The Rotorua Zen group is a newly formed meditation group based at Lake Zendo at Yoga Rotorua. We practice together on Sunday mornings, 9am-10.30am.
Zen meditation is a simple, subtle, transformative practice, which begins with following the sensation of the breath. Find out more, here.
9am: Zen meditation (instruction available)
9.30am: Walking meditation
9.40am: Zen meditation
10.15am-10.30am: Tea circle.
Meditation instruction is available most Sundays. This gives an introduction to the central practice of Zen, and provides an outline of training within our New Zealand MRO Zen groups. Please contact us in advance to let us know your interest.
Along with offering a weekly practice of Zen meditation, the Rotorua Zen group participates in half-day sits one Sunday a month. We also take part in video discussions with our American-based teachers and New Zealand MRO affiliate groups. All these forms offer opportunities to understand more about what it means to practice Zen in everyday life.
Lake Zendo at Yoga Rotorua welcomes everyone who has an interest in experiencing meditation – people of all cultures, religions, gender and ethnic orientations. If you would like to meditate with us, please fill out the form below.
Where to find us:
We practice from a dedicated meditation space within Yoga Rotorua’s studio – which is in the second grandstand of Arawa Park Racecourse, close to the centre of Rotorua. Off-street parking is provided.
Directions: Turn off Fenton Street next to the Rydges Hotel. Go past the Rydges Hotel and continue through the Arawa Park gates. The Lake Zendo at Yoga Rotorua is located at the far end of the middle grandstand. Look out for the Yoga Rotorua signage.
