Each January and July the Mountains and Rivers Order in New Zealand offers a series of Zen events including
​week-long silent Zen meditation retreat (sesshin). ​In July the head of the MRO, Geoffrey Shugen Arnold, Roshi will be in Nelson to lead these events. For January 2024, Jody Hojin Kimmel Sensei will travel to New Zealand to offers teachings and guidance.  ​Regional groups also hold regular Zen events, including weekly group meditation sessions.

'Practical Zen' is an online teaching suited for new and experienced practitioners.
The programme is led by Zen teacher Hogen Green Sensei, and held one Sunday of each month via Zoom from 10.30am.
