Retreat information and fees
Transport assistance to and from the retreat venues are available.
Accommodation and meals are included in retreat fees. Accommodation is in shared, single sex dorm rooms of various sizes, all meals are vegetarian with special diets (i.e. gluten free) available, please let us know on your registration form.
For those arriving for the start of sesshin, registration will be at 5pm Monday July 18th, and there will be a light meal served at 6pm. For those with less time, you are welcome to join the sesshin during the six-day period, up until Friday night, July 22nd. Once you have entered the retreat you must continue until the end of sesshin at Sunday lunchtime.
What should I bring?
• sleeping bag, pillow and earplugs
• a towel
• toiletries
• a torch
• a raincoat
• out-door clothing/footwear for work practice
• loose-fitting clothing for meditation, dark or muted in color. Long trousers and shirts should cover the shoulders (e.g. T-shirt and shirts)
Please note that Staveley (Christchurch venue) can be chilly even in summer so bring extra layers.

We do our best to keep costs as low as possible for our Zen retreats. For those who can't manage these costs, subsidies are available. To apply for a subsidy please contact [email protected] before July 1, 2016. All applications will be considered by the Zen Institute of New Zealand's (the official body representing MRO in NZ) executive officers.
