Each January and July the Mountains and Rivers Order in New Zealand offers a series of Zen events including
​week-long silent Zen meditation retreat (sesshin). ​In July the head of the MRO, Geoffrey Shugen Arnold, Roshi will be in Nelson to lead these events. For January 2024, Jody Hojin Kimmel Sensei will travel to New Zealand to offers teachings and guidance.  ​Regional groups also hold regular Zen events, including weekly group meditation sessions.

Online: Practical Zen – Loving this Life

'Practical Zen' is a live online seminar suited for new and experienced practitioners. The programme is led by Zen teacher Hogen Green Sensei, and held one Sunday of each month via Zoom from 10.30am-12pm.  The next programme will be offered beginning March 2024.

The Ten Ox-herding Pictures

​The Ox-herding pictures present stages on the path of enlightenment. This workshop begins with comments on the ten stages. Participants will then have an opportunity to draw their own miniature versions of the ox-herding series, keeping to one or two of the stages, and using the simple art supplies provided.
