Kia oraThe Rotorua Zen group meets on Sunday and Monday mornings.
The venue is in the suburb of Glenholme, a 15-minute walk from the centre of town. During our meetings we practise seated Zen meditation ("zazen"). Those new to Zen and meditation are encouraged to request instruction, which is available by appointment and takes about 45 minutes. Please fill in the form below, or consider attending Shugen Roshi's introduction to meditation on July 21 at the Arts Village. Zazen is a meditation practice of silence, except for a brief piece of chanting at the end of our sitting time. We share a cup of tea and some conversation to conclude the Sunday programme. To support the Zen group, participants are encouraged to make a regular fortnightly donation of $5 to $10.
